Air Duct Cleaning: Hydroblasting Method

Hydroblasting is an innovative method of air duct cleaning that uses high-pressure water jets to remove dirt, dust, and debris from ducts. Consequently, hydroblasting can provide a deeper level of cleaning compared to traditional vacuuming .

The process works by blasting thousands of gallons of water through nozzles directly into the ductwork. Water pressures typically range from 3,000 to 5,000 psi . Consequently, the force of the water jets lift and dislodge particles stick in ducts, which are then flushed out through drains.

How Hydroblasting Works?

First, access doors are opened to allow technicians access to the ducts. Then, hydroblasters connect high-pressure water pumps and specialized nozzles to the ducts. Nozzles are inserted into the ducts through the access openings.

Technicians then activate the high-pressure pumps, which actively propel water through the nozzles. As the water jets contact the interior surfaces of the ducts, particles of dust, skin cells and contaminants become dislodged.

The water, along with the detached residue and debris, flows out of the ducts through special drain tubes.

Benefits of Hydroblasting Air Ducts

Some key benefits of hydroblasting air duct cleaning include:

  • Deeper cleaning – Removes embedded contaminants that regular vacuuming misses.
  • Sanitization – The high water pressures and flowing water can help sanitize the ducts by washing away microbes.
  • Less residue – Since particles are flushed out with water instead of dust being left behind, there is less residual dust that can recirculate.
  • Quicker drying – Water-soaked materials in ducts typically dry faster than dust-laden materials.
  • Rust prevention – The flushed-out water helps prevent rust buildup over time within the ducts.

In summary, hydroblasting is an effective method of air duct cleaning that can remove more contaminants compared to regular vacuuming. The high-pressure water jets loosen and dislodge embedded particles, allowing for a deeper level of duct sanitization. While hydroblasting is a more involved process, the benefits in terms of cleanliness and contaminant removal can justify the additional effort.
